meet Becky

Hello! My name is Becky Broce, and I am a Kansas City-based photographer with over fifteen years of experience in maternity, child, birth, newborn, family, lifestyle, senior, and special event photography.

In another area of my professional life, I’m a Kansas licensed secondary teacher and have been teaching (and coaching) middle and high-school-aged students for over twenty years. I know it sounds cliché, but I really do love humanity. All of it. I believe the more the merrier and that inclusion and tolerance is always the answer. I’m a books and photo type of girl and often refer to myself as an introverted extrovert. 

Just as in teaching, people and faces are my passion in photography. Portraiture speaks untold truths if you really pay attention. My goal in a photo shoot is to create the images that you desire, show off your personality, your story, and your voice, and to make you feel at ease throughout the process (and to have a little fun doing it!). Mother Nature assists quite well in helping achieve this goal by providing its glorious natural lighting, so most of my photo shoots are in the great outdoors.

On a personal note, I love all things Tucson, Santa Fe, and anywhere in Colorado. Traveling keeps me young(ish- ha!), adventurous, and appreciative of home. Cozy is my vibe, and I absolutely cherish good coffee, mornings, historical fiction novels, yoga, cooking, tennis, and midwestern thunderstorms. I am also very lucky to have supporting and loving friends and family all around. 

Why I do photography: I am constantly in awe of one’s unique beauty and strength in this not so easy world. Documenting various journeys, one individual at a time, keeps us humbled, forgiving, and grateful for life’s continued gifts.
